School Safety Plan Survey Results

Our families did a great job with providing feedback on our Safe School Plan Update Survey.  We received responses from sixty-five of our eighty-five students.  Thanks to all who responded to the survey.  The survey results are below.  I apologize for the strange formatting in section 2 below.  This happened when the information was moved from Microsoft Word to here.  If you have a comment about these results, you can submit a comment below, email me, or give us a call here at the school.

  1. It seems to me that we are doing ok - with some areas that do need to be improved. I think the development of critical thinking will come about as we implement the Core Standards more.Could we maybe do more though projects such as science fair type stuff - or mechanic type stuff thatthe kids could have on display for a day - like a fair. This might spur them to be more creative. We could have them either work in an after school group or at home. And maybe there could be an incentive such as extra credit on their grade. If we don;t provide the opportunities to be more creative with a carrot atthe end- it won't happen. It seems that the safety and bullying might begin to be addressed. More commnication with parents on this program might be good. Exactly what are they learning on this program. The one that I hear about more from the kids is the relationship they have with the teachers. Once again I am starting to hear rumblings like last year. We need to establish a better more trusting but above all professional relationship with kids. I feel that kids are given too much leeway to act out. I have walked into classrooms with students sitting on desks. I firmly believe that if we establish boundaries for respect and school work - then the kids will conform to it and much permissive behavior may stop. A students has no need to be on a desk chit chatting. I should be able to walk in at any time and see the students fully engaged in work or paying attention to a teacher. And I think the more respect a teacher commands, the more respect a teacher will receive, more work will be done and all the drama will decrease.
