Sept. 2 Update

We had a great turnout for Back to School Night; thank you to everyone who was able to come.  We had a great deal of information to share in a short period of time, and I know many of you still have questions about some of the changes we are implementing this year. To help provide you with information and offer you opportunities to share your thoughts, we will be pushing some information to you in print and digital communications and hosting a question and answer session.  

The first information that I want to pass along is a brief overview of what your child should be learning this year related to the Common Core State Standards.  A two page document created by the National PTA that is meant to provide you with an overview of the standards, focus topics for discussion with your child’s teacher, and suggestions for what you can do to help your child learn at is available at https://pta.org/parents/content.cfm?ItemNumber=2910.  To see all of the Common Core Standards for English-Language Arts, visit http://www.corestandards.org/ELA-Literacy/.  For the Math Standards, visit http://www.corestandards.org/Math/.  You can also keep up to date by following the school on Facebook at facebook.com/raymondschool.  

Additionally, I will be hosting a question and answer session on Monday, September 8th, at 6:00 P.M. in the cafeteria.  At that time, I will be able to share our vision for student learning, answer your questions, and show you a current draft of student report cards for this year.  If you are unable to attend this session, but you would still like to have your questions answered, please feel free to give me a call at the school or send me an email at rjohnson@rkusd.org.

RKS Students Compete at Mountain Area Track Meet at YHS
